New active wheel sensors work with so-called ABS magnetic rings, which are integrated into the vehicle's wheel bearings. Optical inspection of these magnetic rings is not possible. For this reason, before installing a new wheel bearing, it is necessary to check the function of the magnetic ring and the direction of bearing installation. Also, when troubleshooting ABS, the bearing and ring should be checked. The ATE test card allows for such inspection and is extremely cost-effective. Simply place it against the bearing, and in the card's window, the magnetic poles of the ring become readable and visible, allowing for diagnosis.
